Advertorial: Autotech Training expands its facilities as the doors open on its dedicated Electric Vehicle Training Suite

This year, Autotech Training officially opened its dedicated Electric Vehicle Training Suite, in a direct bid to drive up electric/hybrid vehicle training within the automotive industry.

Certified to deliver IMI Levels 2 to 4 Electric/Hybrid vehicle courses, the unique EV Training Suite has been purposely built within the Autotech Group’s Milton Keynes headquarters and features an electric vehicle for hands-on learning.

Autotech Training was launched in 2016 by the Autotech Group to upskill the industry, delivering high quality MOT and technical training courses, and the EV Training Suite is the most substantial training investment made by the company to date.

While the EV Training Suite is open to anyone who needs electric/hybrid training , the Autotech Group have also pledged to train its network of 450 temporary vehicle technicians and MOT testers to a minimum Level 2 Hybrid & Electric Vehicle IMI standard by the end of this year.

Autotech Group CEO Gavin White, who joined the IMI’s TechSafe™ Sector Advisory Group to help drive forward the Electrified Vehicle Professional Standard last year said: “Demand for electric vehicles has doubled in the last year and manufacturers are increasing their investment in the build of these cars. But the percentage of vehicle technicians sufficiently trained to safely work on electric vehicles is nowhere near where it should be.”

We are aware of the pressure the entire aftermarket is under to deal with repairs and maintenance of the batteries and high-voltage electrical components within these vehicles, and this is set to be intensified unless training measures are put in place.”

As the industry moves towards the 2030 ICE ban, employers need electric/hybrid trained vehicle technicians. Not only will these increasingly sought-after skills open up a new revenue stream for garages and dealer groups, it will also safeguard technicians from injury.

Autotech Training’s EV Training Suite is supported by key Autotech partners, including BP Chargemaster, the IMI TechSafe™, Haynes Pro Technical, Bosch, Our Virtual Academy, Autogem and Teng Tools.
