Keeping automotive moving beyond the EU

Automotive companies are being urged to prepare as the UK counts down to its new trading relationship with the EU after the 31 December. Here’s what you need to know so you’re ready
The date when the UK begins its new relationship with the EU is looming and a new trading arrangement begins. It could mean changes to the way you work, so getting up to speed with the latest developments is something we should all be doing.
Help is at hand. Throughout November, the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) has been holding a series of webinars to help businesses understand the important actions they need to take to be ready by the end of the transition period. They’re all available on demand so you can catch up whenever best suits you.
Each webinar is free, and cover issues including personal data, REACH, conformity assessment, tariffs and rules of origin.
Getting started
There are even more issues that you could need to be ready for so it’s worthwhile spending time looking at the information on the GOV.UK website. Here are three starters that could prove useful:
- Placing manufactured goods on the GB market from 1 January 2021
- Placing manufactured goods on the EU market from 1 January 2021
- Moving goods under the Northern Ireland Protocol
