The problem

A customer has a 2017 BMW 5 Series. The car had a fault with the windscreen washer system, no water from the washer jets. We replaced the windscreen washer pipe as it was damaged. Now the vehicle has come back to the workshop with the same fault after only a few months.

The fix

The fault is due to the windscreen washer pipe retaining bracket detaching from the bonnet gas strut resulting in damage to the windscreen washer pipe. Remove the windscreen washer pipe retaining bracket from the windscreen washer pipe. Inspect the windscreen washer pipe for damage, repair as necessary. Thoroughly clean the windscreen washer pipe retaining bracket. Cut adhesive tape into 12mm x 40mm strip. Apply adhesive tape to windscreen washer pipe retaining bracket, stick the windscreen washer pipe retaining bracket to the bonnet gas strut. Fit the windscreen washer pipe to the windscreen washer pipe retaining bracket. Ensure locating measurement between reference mark on windscreen washer pipe and retaining bracket mounting clip is 5mm. Secure the windscreen washer pipe in position using a cable tie.

The problem

A customer is experiencing an issue with their 2007 Porsche Cayenne. The vehicle has the warning message 'all-wheel drive system defective' displayed in the instrument panel and manufacturer trouble codes 2033, 2039, 2041 and 2042 stored in the four wheel drive control module fault memory. We don’t have the information relating to these trouble codes.

The fix

This fault affects Cayenne models up to 30/10/09 with four wheel drive system. The problem is likely caused by a faulty four wheel drive control module causing the four wheel drive coupling pump to overheat. Fit a new four wheel drive control module. Fit a new four wheel drive coupling pump, erase trouble codes and carry out road test to ensure the fault has been rectified.

The problem

A customer is complaining that their 2017 Citroën C3 IV has the LH front fog lamp permanently illuminated. Trouble code A98F is stored in the multifunction control module fault memory. We have carried out some basic wiring checks but we haven't found the cause of the fault.

The fix

The fault is most likely due to the internal failure of the engine bay fuse box/relay plate. Turn the ignition off, wait six minutes before disconnecting the battery earth lead. Disconnect the 28-pin multi-plug from the engine bay fuse box/relay plate. Reconnect the battery earth lead and switch the ignition on. If the LH front fog lamp does not illuminate, fit a new engine bay fuse box/relay plate. Check operation of the front fog lamps to ensure the fault has been rectified.
