Start shouting your support for the IMI Skill Auto finalists as they head to the World Skills UK live in November. The end of year competition is split into four areas, each focusing on a particular industry sector; for the IMI Skills Auto finalists that means competing under the engineering and technology banner.

Each contestant is part of the IMI’s search for automotive excellence, and the IMI Skill Auto competition is aimed at students and apprentices studying towards Level 3 qualifications in automotive technology, body repair, refinishing and heavy vehicle engineering.

In preparation for the World Skills UK event, training days for the finalists are being held in October with the support of ProAlign, Stevenson College, Car-O-Liner and ITAS.

Boost your career

World Skills UK isn’t just an opportunity to support the IMI Skill Auto finalists, but also to gain invaluable skills and knowledge to help you progress in your chosen automotive career path.

Attendees will be able to have a go as part of practical demonstrations, so you can try something new and take part in a hands-on job-related skill.

You can also get impartial one-to-one guidance on career routes and jobs from National Careers Service and National Apprenticeship Service. Find opportunities that you can apply for, such as work experience, apprenticeships, and jobs.

And perhaps most excitingly you can meet the companies you might want to work for: BAE Systems, BMW, Airbus, Rolls-Royce, and Toyota as well as many others will all be attending, so you can grab time with them and discuss the apprenticeships and training opportunities they have.
