The lockdown put a tremendous strain on our industry. Companies faced either a massive reduction in business or shut down completely. Thankfully as restrictions have eased, the industry is springing back to life.

Yes, the picture is uncertain but there are green shoots. We’ve done some analysis of the official figures and have discovered that:

• The automotive industry is performing well compared to other sectors, having the highest percentage of businesses reporting an increase in turnover in the last two weeks.
• Approximately 62,000 jobs have returned to work from furlough in the past two weeks, with an additional 19,700 planned in the next fortnight
• 13,700 jobs have returned from working remotely to their usual working location in the past two weeks

These are the topline figures, but we want to know more about what’s going on at the frontline.
