Deadline day for MOT testers / IMI’s new President

MOT

There’s a lot going on – disputed elections, illogical lockdowns, promising vaccines. It’s easy to get distracted from the important business-as-usual items.

In the automotive sector, training and development can feel like one of those. But staying relevant isn’t a nice-to-have; it’s a must-have.

Right now, if you’re an MOT tester, you should start thinking about getting your annual training and assessments completed before the 31st March 2021 deadline

We’ve got everything you need to get yourself ready, just head over to the IMI’s MOT qualifications pages to see how we can help. It’ll be one more thing to tick off the to-do list.

New faces join the IMI family

The IMI is constantly looking at ways to improve, bring in new perspectives and deliver for our members.

At the end of October during our AGM we announced Professor Jim Saker, Director of the Centre for Automotive Management in the Business School at Loughborough University, as the IMI’s new President. Jim is a fantastic addition and is already bringing powerful new insights about where our sector is headed.

As do the two new Vice President appointments, Linda Jackson and Sandy Burgess. Linda Jackson is the 2018 winner of the IMI Sue Brownson Award for Outstanding Leadership in Automotive, and is Executive Vice President, Brands Portfolio Development at Groupe PSA; Sandy Burgess is Chief Executive of the Scottish Motor Traders Association. Both bring hands-on automotive experience to the IMI and will help us navigate through these unusual times. We’ll be finding ways for you to interact with them in the coming weeks.

On the subject of navigating difficult times, our dedicated COVID-19 hub and MotorPro page house an incredible amount of advice and help, so please use the resources, they’re there to help, and are regularly updated.

And if the IMI can help in any way please get in touch. We’re available on +44 (0)1992 519025, or send emails to hello@theimi.org.uk if you need us.

Stay safe,

Steve
