Get ready for the Skills Competitions results

At 5pm on Friday, you’ll get an email from us revealing the winners of the 2022 IMI Skills Competitions.

Please, please take a look. The winners this year are stunning, a truly remarkable group.

Why makes me say this? First, because the technical standards they set are so high – across Refinishing, Body Repair, Light Vehicle Technology and Heavy Vehicles.

Also because these individuals express just what’s possible – and what should be possible – in the modern automotive sector. This year’s candidates and winners come from every corner of the UK and from all sorts of backgrounds; many have faced and overcome significant obstacles – to do with low expectations, prejudice or preconceptions. Honestly, it’s an incredibly accomplished, ambitious, inspirational group of people.

Over the past two years, the IMI has put a lot of time and effort into arguing that the industry needs to embrace greater diversity. Not everyone has agreed with the stance we’ve taken. But you’ll see in the winners of the 2022 IMI Skills Competitions just what’s possible if we do change.
