IMI launches 2023 Awards putting Sustainability and Diversity in the spotlight

Winners announced at IMI Annual Dinner on 15th March 2023

Continuing its mission to celebrate and champion the best of automotive, the Institute of the Motor Industry (IMI) has launched its 2023 Awards with the winners to be announced at the IMI Annual Dinner on Wednesday 15th March 2023.

Reflecting the changing automotive landscape, two new categories have been added. The President’s Award 2023, sponsored by BMW/Alphera, will focus on Environmental, Sustainability and Green Innovation in Learning with the aim of shining a spotlight on the individuals demonstrating a forward-thinking commitment to the rapidly evolving automotive technologies.

Acknowledging the IMI’s work to make diversity in the automotive workplace a central conversation, a new Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) award has also been launched. EDI: Championing Diversity in Automotive aims to celebrate the individuals who are leading the way in informing and educating to create a more inclusive sector. The Award builds on the IMI’s Diversity Task Force launched in 2021.

Other categories include:

  • Full-Time Student of the Year
  • Apprentice of the Year
  • Contribution to the Work of the IMI
  • Outstanding Contribution to the Motor Industry – sponsored by AutoTech
  • Partner of the Year

Nominations can be submitted via the Awards platform: The deadline for nominations is 5pm on Wednesday 30th November 2022.

“The automotive sector is facing huge challenges, but it is the commitment of continual professional development that we see every day that will make the difference to our success in the long-term”, explained Steve Nash, CEO of the IMI. “It is, therefore, critical to ensure that our Awards reflect the changing and challenging landscape and the efforts of individuals to ensure that they are ready for the future.

“Our 2023 Awards will be announced at the IMI Dinner in London next March, which will be hosted by award-winning journalist and ITN newscaster, Nina Hossain. They are a way of celebrating the champions who continue to keep training and keep learning to keep the UK motoring.”
