IWD 2022 + the Ukraine crisis

IMI Update

This week we’re celebrating International Women’s Day.

The automotive role models are there to see, from racing driver Rebecca Jackson to industry pioneer Julia Muir. And did you know that 58% of the IMI’s own workforce are women, including Managers, Technical Experts, Finance and Team Leaders. Meet some of our team and find out how their careers have progressed.

But let’s be honest, automotive is a male-dominated industry and we need to do more to make the sector more diverse, accelerating its success. To help this process, we’ll soon be releasing the IMI’s Diversity & Inclusion Task Force report.

It’s also National Careers Week. If you think it’s time to take your career to the next level or you know someone who’s looking to make a change, the IMI has lots of resources to help you pursue the career of your dreams.

Working together with our members, the IMI is determined to champion equality and help people from all backgrounds to build great careers in automotive. Collectively we really can all #BreakTheBias.

The Ukraine crisis

Like so many, the IMI has been deeply saddened by the attack on Ukraine and its people. We would like to extend our thoughts to all our members who have family, friends and colleagues in Ukraine and to all those being affected by recent events.

We want to support the families and children in Ukraine, so we have made charitable donations to the British Red Cross’s DEC Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal and to UNICEF, who aim to help children affected by the war in Ukraine.

We’ve also activated the option for anyone to donate when they purchase an IMI product or service online. All proceeds will be split equally between the British Red Cross and UNICEF.

If you need advice, get in touch at careers@theimi.org.uk or students@theimi.org.uk, tweet us @IMICareers or message us on Instagram @imiautocity. We’re also on the phone: 01992 511521.

With our best wishes
