Let’s celebrate apprenticeships and all they offer

Become An Apprentice With The IMI

It’s National Apprenticeship Week. A time to celebrate the integral role apprentices play in the automotive industry. Apprentices will help us face tomorrow’s challenges with fresh ideas and new approaches. Even Gillian Keegan, skills and apprenticeships minister, started her career aged 16 as an apprentice at Delco Electronics, a subsidiary of General Motors in Kirkby.

It’s a tough time for apprentices and those companies running apprenticeship programmes, they’ve had to cope with new approaches to learning and temporarily reduced incomes, but during this important week we want to remind the world just how valuable they are. As a taster, here are three great MotorPro stories about the difference apprentices can make:

And here’s Rebecca Watt, a Technician at Avia Speed Shop, on what inspired her to take the leap. There’s a lot more information about the options at IMI’s Autocity.

Now’s the time to take on an apprentice. If you’re interested in taking on an apprentice but unsure what it involves and if it’s worthwhile – which it most definitely is – head to the IMI’s website where you can find all the information you need. Including a return on investment calculator so you can see the financial benefits.

The IMI will always shout about the benefits of taking on apprentices, how important they are, and fight the skills corner. In fact, whatever stage you’re at in your career, the IMI’s purpose is the same: we want to help you build a successful career in the automotive sector.

If you need us please get in touch. We’re available on +44 (0)1992 519025, or send emails to hello@theimi.org.uk.

Stay safe,

Steve
