PAGID collaborates with the IMI to inspire the next generation of automotive professionals

PAGID

Brake brand, PAGID, has confirmed it will be the official sponsor of the Institute of the Motor Industry Skills Competition2021-2022.

As well as becoming the lead sponsor, PAGID will provide hands-on experience for the students taking part in the competition by hosting informative training talks and college visits. In 2019, members of the PAGID/TMD team also helped to judge the Skill Auto brake task at Henry Ford College.

Commenting on PAGID involvement in the competition, Richard Hutchins, Skills Competition Manager at the IMI said: “We would not be able to deliver the high standard of competition expected from us without the support of organisations like TMD Friction which brings specialist knowledge and expertise, helping us ensure we are following the latest procedures and practices in the challenges we set our competitors. The IMI Skills Competitions team is very grateful for the enthusiasm from people like Scott Irwin and his colleagues who have been outstanding in their commitment, not only to the competitions but to enhance the whole experience for all participants.”

Scott Irwin, Head of Technical Training, TMD Frictions added: “We have thoroughly enjoyed working with the IMI over the years. The team is incredibly dedicated to helping aspiring mechanics, which is something we are very passionate about as a company. Student mechanics are the future of the industry, so it’s important that they learn the correct techniques and best practice to keep themselves, and drivers, safe in the workshop and out on the road.”

TMD also contributes to the IMI’s student portal, a resource for young mechanics to learn more about mechanical tasks, along with the technical processes and best practice that underpins them.

Steve Nash, CEO of the IMI concluded: “We are delighted to have sponsorship support from PAGID for the IMI Skills Competition in 2021-2022.  After what has been a tumultuous year, for the sector as a whole and students in particular, we are looking forward to welcoming the PAGID team and all the finalists to the finals in November.”
