Two inspirational people

I’ve come across two inspirational people recently...

Shaun Ferguson-Miller runs the independent garage, Fergies. He started out in valeting but spent a lot of time with technicians, asking them questions and learning on the job. He spent ten years as a mechanic at the family firm – and was even named the UK’s top technician in 2018 – before making the decision to go it alone in 2019.

Lahcen Hanouni works at the SMEIA Group in Morocco, and has worked his way up through the firm to become Senior Master Technician working on his leadership, management, technical, mindset, knowledge, exchange of information, and innovation skills along the way.

Why am I telling you about Shaun and Lahcen? Because they decided to join the IMI to help drive their careers forward, having not known too much about us previously. Lahcen joined the IMI to improve his skills and supercharge his training and now, having worked closely with our development team is a Fellow of the IMI. I think these IMI member stories are incredibly important, and people such as Lahcen and Shaun best tell the story of how the IMI can help take your career to the next level.

We’re nearing the cut-off for MOT training and assessment. You need to get it done by 30 April to stay compliant, otherwise, you’ll lose the ability to test vehicles and a vital income stream will dry up.
