Looking ahead: the growing demand
Around 20% of the UK car fleet currently features some form of Level 2 autonomy. Forecasts suggest this could rise to 57% by 2032.
Based on these trends, the UK may need around 129,078 trained technicians to support safe maintenance, calibration and repair of vehicles with ADAS features.
The technician’s evolving role
The rise of software-managed diagnostics continues to blur the lines around technician responsibilities in ADAS work. However, sectors like body repair and glazing will continue to rely on skilled professionals who understand how ADAS technology integrates with vehicle systems.
