Automotive vacancy rates increase again to hit new record high

The motor trade has the highest vacancy rate for the past 21 years, with a rate of 5.1. Vacancy rates have continued to increase, even as the all industries rate has fallen since the summer of 2022. Currently, motor trades have the second-highest vacancy rate after accommodation and food services. As a result, there has been a significant increase in job postings in the industry, with all automotive occupations seeing record highs in January 2023. Although job postings have dropped slightly in the past two months, many remain at significantly higher levels than previous years.
