Vacancy Tracker - March 2025

The latest Office for National Statistics vacancy data shows mixed trends across sectors. The Motor Trades vacancy rate rose by 4% month-on-month, reaching 2.5 vacancies per 100 employees, with 14,000 open roles. In contrast, the overall United Kingdom job market saw a 4% drop in vacancies month-on-month.
Despite this short-term rise, Motor Trades vacancies have fallen 39% year-on-year, continuing a long-term decline in demand or recruitment challenges. Across all industries, total vacancies dropped 11% year-on-year, suggesting broader shifts in the labour market.
