Laser Tools Future50 is proving popular, with nominations soaring as garages put forward their aspiring young mechanics for the apprentice initiative.
Designed to support 50 young people in their first steps into the automotive aftermarket, the Future50 programme was launched in March at a special milestone event celebrating Laser Tools’ 50th anniversary.
Laser Tools Future50 offers garages the opportunity to nominate their apprentices – with applicants required to be enrolled in training and actively working within a garage. Apprentices are also able to put themselves forward.
Future50 is about more than supporting apprentices today, it’s about backing them for the long term. As part of the initiative, successful applicants will become part of the wider Laser Tools community, with ongoing engagement, development, training and accreditation opportunities, and continued support as they progress through their careers in the motor trade.
The chosen Future50 candidates will each receive a Laser Tools Apprentice Tool Kit, complete with a range of high-quality products, to support their development as young mechanics beginning their career in the industry. They will also have the chance to win a pair of VIP racing tickets to a British Touring Car Championship race at Brands Hatch on the 11th of October.
Eddie Altham, Laser Tools Managing Director, said: “The Laser Tools Future50 is designed to support the next generation of mechanics and technicians, so we are thrilled by the strong response to it.
“We have already received more than 80 nominations so far, including some women applicants. This is really encouraging but we would like to see more women apprentices nominated for the Future50 by their employers.
“With the Fututre50 still open for nominations until July, we would actively encourage those garages currently employing women apprentices to put their staff members forward for the scheme, as it represents a fantastic opportunity to support young people on their career journey into the industry.”
