Celebrating Excellence in Learning
Congratulations to our Learner of the Year and FMI Bursary Winner, Jacob Fish from Bridgwater and Taunton College
Jacob Fish has shown remarkable resilience and dedication at Bridgwater and Taunton College despite facing significant personal challenges. After losing a close family member, he had to leave his apprenticeship in the Midlands and relocate to the South West to live with his mother. Despite this upheaval, he remained committed to his education, enrolling in the IMI Level 2 program and working hard to build his career in the automotive industry.
Joining the course later than his peers, Jacob demonstrated exceptional determination in catching up, dedicating extra hours outside the classroom to meet academic expectations. His strong work ethic and proactive approach to studying allowed him to bridge the gap effectively. In both classroom and workshop settings, his passion for learning is evident - he asks insightful questions and eagerly deepens his understanding. His prior apprenticeship experience has been invaluable, enabling him to take on a peer-teaching role, supporting and guiding classmates in practical tasks.
Jacob’s impeccable 100% attendance record reflects his commitment and perseverance. His resilience, leadership, and dedication to both his education and peers make him an outstanding learner and an inspiration to those around him at Bridgwater and Taunton College.
