How do you qualify for an award?

What are the benefits of having one of these awards?
As a recipient of either of our Engineering Awards, you will be awarded a set of additional post nominals, CAE or AAE, which can be used for professional engagements and to help advance your career further.
Our awards also reflect your level of expertise and seniority in the automotive industry, you will also receive a recognition certificate for this award.
You will receive an additional certificate for each award.

Engineering Awards
Award
Certified Automotive Engineer (CAE)
Criteria
- Must be an Associate IMI member
- Level 3 (English level or other UK nation equivalent) technical qualification and a minimum of 3 years relevant experience
Award
Advanced Automotive Engineer (AAE)
Criteria
- Associate IMI member – at a minimum
- Level 4 (English level or other UK nation equivalent) technical qualification and a minimum of 5 years relevant experience

Certified Automotive Trainer (CAT)
Criteria
- Must be an Associate IMI member
- A teaching qualification at level 3 (English level or other UK nation equivalent)
- A subject knowledge qualification at level 3 (English level or other UK nation equivalent) associated with the teaching role
- At least 3 years’ experience
- At least 3 years’ experience
Award
Certificated Automotive Assessor
Criteria
- Associate IMI member – at a minimum
- An assessing qualification at level 3 (English level or other UK nation equivalent)
- A subject knowledge qualification at level 3 (English level or other UK nation equivalent) associated with the teaching role
- At least 3 years’ experience
- Be involved in training for at least 24 days per year
Award
Advanced Automotive Trainer
Criteria
- Associate IMI member – at a minimum
- A teaching qualification at level 4 (English level or other UK nation equivalent)
- A subject knowledge qualification at level 4 (English level or other UK nation equivalent) associated with the teaching role
- At least 3 years’ experience
- Demonstrate the ability/understanding of how to use a BNA and TNA and to plan and deliver effective training solutions for employers – a case study is required for assessment

AdAA Advanced Automotive Assessor
Criteria
- Associate IMI member – at a minimum
- An assessing qualification at level 4 (English level or other UK nation equivalent)
- A subject knowledge qualification at level 4 (English level or other UK nation equivalent) associated with the assessing role
- At least 3 years’ experience
- Be involved in assessing individuals for at least 24 days per year
- Demonstrate the ability/understanding of how to develop and improve the skills of assessors to support the delivery of effective training solutions for employers – a case study is required for assessment
