Case Study: Martin Savage
My name is Martin Savage and I work for Nationwide Windscreen Services. I have been in the Automotive Glazing industry for nearly 28 years. I worked for Autowindscreens for 21 years before working at Autoglass, National Windscreens and most recently my current employer; whom I have joined in the role of Technical Support Manager, and Health and Safety Officer.
Part of my role as the Technical Support Manager is to assess Technicians for IMI Accreditation, and I have completed my assessor’s accreditation exam accordingly. I am a good example of someone with many years’ experience in the industry, in multiple roles – including senior management – but whilst having no opportunities to gain any formal qualifications in recognition of my skill and level of expertise. The IMI presents opportunities for both recognition and personal development which was previously unavailable in my industry.
I have already passed my Assessor’s exam and am now duly certified. This has given me a great sense of recognition. The materials available for my learning development with the IM?I are easily accessible and allow me to keep up with changing technologies such as Hybrid vehicles and ADAS in an affordable and manageable way. Completing various courses rewards me with both the knowledge gained and a certificate in recognition of my achievement further enhancing my personal satisfaction.
