  • Identification of vehicles (Some electric bicycles are subject to MOT test)

  • Electric vehicle health and safety
  • Guidance on testing electric motorcycles
  • Disabled rider controls in addition to normal controls
  • Road testing adapted motorcycles
  • Fuel caps.

  • Who to contact for incorrectly registered motorcycles, replacement certificates, testing advice and disciplinary action advice.

Test procedures

  • Suspension checks, movement acceptable/not acceptable
  • Correct use of decelerometer
  • Wheel misalignment (shaft drive)
  • Inspecting belt driven motorcycles
  • Levers broken or modified
  • Footrests missing or not required
  • Position, size and shape of reflectors
  • Modified exhausts
  • Fuel system leaks
  • Headlamp alignment

The above topics need to cover a minimum of 3 hours and a record of this training must be added to the testers MTS account for inspection by the DVSA.

  • Identification of high voltage cables (not all are orange)
  • Health and safety around electric vehicles
  • Guidance on testing electric and hydrogen fuelled vehicles
  • Disabled driver controls in addition to normal controls
  • Road testing adapted vehicles
  • Fuel caps, flaps.

  • Headlamp alignment
  • Brake test procedures.
