IMI offers flexible e-Learning MOT Training and Assessment package to help testers pass first time

Over 28,000 technicians have yet to complete their MOT Annual Assessment
With just over a month until the March 31st MOT Annual Assessment deadline, the Institute of the Motor Industry (IMI) is urging testers who have yet to complete the appraisal to take advantage of its flexible e-Learning package. Specifically designed to easily accommodate a tester’s busy work and personal commitments, not only does the IMI package include a 3-hour e-Learning training module that can be completed in bite-size chunks at the tester’s convenience, it also uniquely allows the assessment to be taken twice to help technicians achieve the DVSA pass rate of 80%.
Although the DVSA has confirmed that many testers have already completed their annual assessment, there are still over 28,000 testers who still need to prioritise finishing it in just over a month. The annual assessment ensures testers remain compliant and are legally entitled to carry out MOT tests on vehicles. If they fail to pass the test by midnight on 31st March they will be suspended from testing.
“The reality is that if an MOT tester fails to meet the MOT Annual Assessment deadline their testing status will be suspended from 1st April,” commented Lindsey Mitchell, Director of Development, Quality and Compliance of the IMI. “They will have to complete the current year’s assessment and a demonstration test with the DVSA, as well as complete and submit a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. This could all result in a loss of income for the MOT testing station due to the time it can take to have these completed.”
Once the IMI MOT Training and Assessment is completed, MOT testers will receive free membership to the IMI by opting-in. Plus, they have access to the IMI community to utilise new and relevant resources to continue their learning plus helpful tips and tools.
