The IMI Skills Competitions set out to find the most talented young apprentices in automotive. Run annually, they’re designed to raise technical standards across four streams: automotive technology, body repair, refinishing and heavy vehicle technology. Having adapted to constantly changing circumstances thanks to the pandemic, they have now come back with a bang since the restrictions on live events lifted.
MotorPro Editor James Scoltock sits down with the IMI’s Competition Manager Richard Hutchins and Scott Irwin, Head of Technical Training at TMD Friction, to find out why the Skills Competitions are so important, how they’re keeping pace with changes in the industry, and why you should think about taking part.
