Problems fixed: Chrysler and Citroën

In this article: Leading technical supplier Autodata helps you fix three common problems found in passenger cars

The problem

A 2010 Grand Voyager has the engine malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) illuminated and trouble code P2463 stored in the engine control module fault memory. The diesel particulate filter (DPF) was regenerated and the vehicle was OK for a while but has now returned to the workshop with several DPF related trouble codes stored in the engine control module fault memory. Replacing the DPF would be expensive, do you have any advice?

The fix

The cause of the problem is poor connection between DPF pressure sensor and wiring harness connector due to corrosion Fig.1.1. Replace the DPF pressure sensor and wiring harness connector using the repair kit available from the Chrysler parts department. Carry out DPF pressure sensor reset procedure using suitable diagnostic equipment. Erase fault codes and carry out a road test to confirm the fault has been rectified.

The problem

A customer’s 2015 Citroen DS5 2.0 diesel has a suspected vibration/rattle from the right-hand rear of the vehicle at approximately 2,000rpm. We have heard the noise on road test but have been unable to find the cause of the noise when back in the workshop. Is this a known fault?

The fix

Yes, we have heard of this problem before. The fault is due to the fuel pipes vibrating against the vehicle underbody. Inspect the fuel pipes for signs of contact with the vehicle underbody and if necessary fit foam pads between the fuel pipes and the vehicle underbody (Fig 1). Carry out a road test to ensure the fault has been rectified.
