Review of Scottish Qualifications 2021/22: Your chance to have your say!
The IMI are reviewing a number of Scottish SVQ and Diploma qualifications during 2021/22. We are looking for industry experts, employers, training providers and any other relevant stakeholders to take a short questionnaire on the proposed changes and feed into the review.
We are reviewing the qualifications listed below to make sure that they are still fit for purpose and relevant to the sector. The automotive landscape is changing rapidly with new technologies emerging. So, this will be a good opportunity to take these into account and make sure any necessary changes are reflected in the qualifications.
In total there are nine qualifications being reviewed:
- SVQ in Heavy Goods and Public Service Vehicle Maintenance & Repair at SCQF Level 5 (new qualification title – this qual has merged Heavy Vehicle Maintenance and Repair with Bus and Coach Engineering Maintenance and Repair Mechanical and Electrical)
- Diploma in Heavy Goods and Public Service Vehicle Maintenance & Repair at SCQF Level 5 (new qualification title – this qual has merged Heavy Vehicle Maintenance and Repair with Bus and Coach Engineering Maintenance and Repair Mechanical and Electrical)
- SVQ in Heavy Goods and Public Service Vehicle Maintenance & Repair at SCQF Level 7 (new qualification title – this qual has merged Heavy Vehicle Maintenance and Repair with Bus and Coach Engineering Maintenance and Repair Mechanical and Electrical)
- Diploma in Heavy Goods and Public Service Vehicle Maintenance & Repair at SCQF Level 7 (new qualification title – this qual has merged Heavy Vehicle Maintenance and Repair with Bus and Coach Engineering Maintenance and Repair Mechanical and Electrical)
- SVQ in Vehicle Parts Operations at SCQF Level 6
- Diploma in Vehicle Parts Operations at SCQF Level 6
- SVQ in Vehicle Body Repair at SCQF Level 6
- SVQ in Vehicle Paintwork Repair at SCQF Level 6
- SVQ in Vehicle Fitting at SCQF Level 5

Following the first Expert Working Group meetings we are looking for industry experts, employers, training providers and any other relevant stakeholders to take a short questionnaire on the qualification structures and any proposed changes that have been suggested. The closing date for responses is Wednesday 22nd September 2021.

*Please note, there will also be a consultation on Vehicle Fitting, however this shall be released at a later date (to be confirmed) due to the NOS being reviewed.
