What’s the IMI ever done for me?
“What’s the IMI ever done for me?” It’s a fair question for members to ask, and one we always keep in mind to make sure we’re staying relevant.
I can assure you of one thing: we never take new or renewing members for granted. With that in mind, I’d like to share what – I believe – are some important ways we’re supporting our community.
01_Helping you advance your career
This is the heart of the matter; your success is our purpose. IMI members can make use of a huge range of resources, courses and certification to help keep your career, CPD and training on track and give you the skills you need to take the next step. If you want to know more about ADAS, on-board diagnostics, health and safety and of course the electric vehicle revolution, we have the content for you – much of it free for members.
02_ Providing insights about a changing industry
Electrification, Brexit, digital technologies, climate change – these are all reshaping our industry. The IMI is investing in digital channels so you can get practical support, timely advice and new information as and when you need it. Do check out our regular webinars, MotorPro stories, social media channels as well as these member updates for the latest news.
03_Giving you an eLearning boost for an EV future
EV training will be the thing that gives you an edge. We’re working with international e-Learning training experts VOCANTO (sister company to Lucas-Nülle) to turn up the power here. More than 45 of the IMI’s e-Learning modules will be available using VOCANTO’s groundbreaking platform, helping prepare you for the industry-wide shift to electrification.
04_TechSafe™: Getting you ready for the future
With the rise of EVs we all have a duty of care to employees working around high-voltage systems. The IMI’s TechSafeTM initiative helps set baseline standards for the automotive industry and, over time, address the skills gap for those working with electric and hybrid vehicles.
05_Keeping your MOT skills up to date
The deadline is looming to complete your annual MOT training and assessment (and keep your business’s MOT income stream). I’m proud of the support we’re offering IMI members and MOT testers, including this exclusive masterclass from the DVSA.
