Using NOS as a benchmark when developing any occupational product ensures relevance and alignment with other sector products.
For example, NOS can be used:
- As a basis for regulated or non-regulated qualifications/accreditations
- To measure staff skills and identify training and development needs
- To design and develop training programmes and materials
- To define job roles and write job descriptions
The NOS developed by the IMI can be accessed and downloaded for free from the UK Standards website
By getting involved with developing and reviewing NOS, automotive stakeholders make sure NOS are current, relevant and are an accurate description of what competency really means.
