National Occupational Standards (NOS)
National Occupational Standards (NOS) are statements of the standards of performance individuals must achieve when carrying out functions in the workplace, together with specifications of the underpinning knowledge and understanding.
National Occupational Standards (NOS) for the automotive sector are developed by the IMI, who consult with employers and other stakeholders across each of the UK nations. This consultation process allows any specific requirements to be considered by each nation and the result is a set of NOS that are suitable for use across the UK. Where a need has been identified, NOS may be translated into the Welsh Language.
Each NOS has a published date stating when it was approved and an anticipated review date. The most current NOS are listed in the NOS database, which is maintained by Skills Development Scotland (SDS).
