The Institute of the Motor Industry (IMI) will be carrying out a review of the following National Occupational Standards (NOS):
- Vehicle Damage Assessor Operations
- Accident Repair – SMART - Cosmetic
- Accident Repair – SMART - PDR
We need industry experts like you to feed into these reviews. Consultation events will be consist primarily of online surveys and video/telephone conference meetings. There is no requirement to attend all meetings – you can be as involved as you wish.
For those who take part, a CPD certificate will be issued as a small thank you for your time, which can be used towards IMI Membership/Professional Registration.
Phase 1
Expression of Interest registration:
- An online form to register your interest is available here
- Current NOS documents are available below – please look through them prior to completing the form
- To register your interest and leave initial feedback, select the NOS suite(s) you wish to consult on and follow instructions in the form
- Forms will close on 12th September
- Feedback will be collated, and online meetings will be held to discuss.

Phase 2
Once developed, draft//final NOS will be available below, along with a document for each NOS suite outlining the suggested changes.
Wider consultation electronic surveys to gather feedback on the draft NOS will be open from 10th November 2025 for 6 weeks.
If required, an online all nations ‘washup’ meeting will be held in January/February.
Phase 3
The revised NOS will be published and available on the NOS database by 31st March 2026 - https://www.ukstandards.org.uk/en/nos-finder
Those who participate in the review can claim a CPD certificate for their time. At the end of the project, an email will be sent out to those eligible.
