Who is it suitable for?

This NVQ is aimed at individuals working in a supervisory role within the automotive glazing industry. Many technicians undertaking this qualification will be employed as an apprentice on a L3 Glass Industries Occupation Advanced Apprenticeship

About

Windscreens and windows are essential in maintaining a vehicle's structural strength and therefore a qualification of this type is vital in ensuring vehicles are repaired to the highest quality standards. This qualification covers the key skills required by employees when they are supervising technicians who are repairing and replacing glazing components on all types of motor vehicle.

Potential candidates should be experienced in a supervisory role and able to provide technical advice to inexperienced technicians. They must demonstrate that they:

  • can complete quality checks
  • can plan resources to meet deadlines 
  • are able to communicate effectively
  • have a thorough knowledge of the automotive glazing industry.

Progression

Successful candidates may potentially move into customer services or progress to management level.

Assessment

Learners will demonstrate their skills and knowledge by collecting evidence of their work. This evidence is usually presented in a portfolio (however your approved centre may use an alternative method). The assessor will advise learners how to generate, collect and present their evidence.
