Who is it suitable for?

This VRQ includes the full range of routine tyre fitting procedures. It provides the essential knowledge and skills for specialist tyre fitters, working on a wide range of vehicles, in all types of garages, dealerships and specialist tyre depots.

About

It provides learners with the opportunity to study both the theory and practical aspects of some of the following:

  • Inspection, repairing and replacing:
    • high performance light vehicle tyres
    • commercial vehicle tyres
    • motorcycle tyres
    • plant equipment tyres
    • and/or industrial equipment tyres.
  • Carrying out light vehicle four-wheel alignment.
  • Assessing and securing a roadside situation.

Learners will also gain a broad knowledge and understanding of health and safety in the workplace, agreeing customer vehicle needs and other skills associated with working in a garage.

Progression

This VRQ offers an ideal step to the Vocational Competence Qualification (VCQ) for those who are employed and wish to continue with their studies (as the knowledge at L2 meets that of the related VCQ). Achievers of this qualification can use it as credit against the knowledge required for the corresponding VCQ.

Assessment

The assessment of this VRQ is made up of two components:

  • practical tasks
  • online testing
