Who is it suitable for?

This VRQ would suit:

  • school and college leavers who wish to join the automotive industry
  • individuals (not employed in the industry) who want the opportunity to develop occupational knowledge and carry out practical tasks
  • employees of the industry who are seeking to enhance and/or demonstrate their understanding of their work role.

About

This qualification forms the knowledge component of the IMI Sector Skill Council’s Auto Electrical and Mobile Electrical Installation Apprenticeship framework. When an apprentice has achieved a L2 Apprenticeship they can then choose to broaden their education and training in other ways from this firm base.

This learning programme is based upon IMI SSC’s National Occupational Standards for Auto Electrical and Mobile Electrical Installation.

Progression

This qualification offers an ideal step to the Vocational Competence Qualification (VCQ) for those who are employed and who wish to continue with their studies (the knowledge at L2 meets that of the related competence qualification). Achievers of this qualification can use it as credit against the knowledge required for the corresponding VCQ.

Assessment

The assessment is made up of two components:

  • Practical tasks 
  • Online testing
