Who is it suitable for?

This L3 VCQ would suit:

employees working within the industry who are seeking to enhance and/or demonstrate their experience and competence in their work role. Please note, experienced staff enter onto a VCQ programme at the level suited to their role and competence.

About

This qualification has a choice of two job routes, either auto electrical technician or auto electrical aftermarket enhancement technician.

This L3 VCQ is an integral part of the IMI SSC Auto Electrical and Mobile Electrical Installation Apprenticeship Framework. Therefore learners (normally aged 16-25) who are keen to build a career in the industry can take this VCQ as part of the Apprenticeship framework.

This Vocational Competence Qualification (VCQ) is based upon IMI Sector Skills Council's National Occupational Standards for Auto Electrical and Mobile Electrical Installation.

Progression

For some learners this qualification could prepare them for progression to further learning and training. For others, this qualification could also provide a useful recognition of their practical skills and knowledge, to aid their step from one job role to another.

Assessment

The knowledge component of this qualification is also independently assessed via online testing. The tests are mapped to each knowledge unit's learning outcomes and assessment criteria to ensure coverage. These tests are marked electronically by IMI Awards.
