Who is it suitable for?

This work-related qualification is designed for individuals already working in a first line management role.  It provides them with the opportunity to develop and demonstrate their management competence.  Learners will produce performance evidence resulting from work have carried out in their first line management position in their normal workplace.

About

This is a Vocational Competence Qualification (VCQ) (containing Institute of the Motor Industry Sector Skills Council units, mapped to the Management Standards Centre National Occupational Standards).

The VCQ contains mandatory units which are considered essential for learners to achieve. Optional units have also been included to provide flexibility across differing management roles with a retail automotive organisation.

Level 3 reflects the ability to identify and use relevant understanding, methods and skills to complete tasks and address problems that while well defined have a measure of complexity. It includes taking responsibility for initiating and completing tasks and procedures, as well as exercising autonomy and judgement within limited parameters. It also reflects awareness of different perspectives or approaches within an area of study or work.

Progression

The VCQ's level reflects the range of knowledge, skills & experience, and therefore the competence that employees should have as they progress in retail automotive industry management.

Assessment

These competence based qualifications are assessed by gathering Evidence, Observation and Professional discussion from the workplace that covers a minimum of a 4 month (16 week) period, to prove that the learner has covered all of the assessment criteria contained within their chosen units, addressing subjects such as: organising business processes, making business decisions, leading & managing a team, recruitment, safety and legal requirements, customer focus, sales & profitability and supporting a winning culture.
