Who is it suitable for?

This qualification is aimed at experienced technicians in either Vehicle Body and Paint or Vehicle Maintenance and Repair. Therefore a typical learner will be 18 years plus, working in industry and will have at least a Level 2 Automotive Technical Qualification and/or a Level 2 Apprenticeship.

About

Vehicle Damage Assessors work closely with customers and vehicle repair specialists to:

  • appraise vehicle damage
  • assess vehicle repair methods 
  • estimate costs (including vehicle salvage categorisation, appraising & valuing vehicles for pre accident condition)

Progression

For some learners this qualification could prepare them for progression to further learning and training. For others, this qualification could also provide a useful recognition of their practical skills and knowledge, to aid their step from one job role to another.

Assessment

The knowledge component of this qualification is also independently assessed via online testing. The tests are mapped to each knowledge unit's learning outcomes and assessment criteria to ensure coverage. These tests are marked electronically by IMI.
