The purpose and aim of these vocational competence qualifications (VCQs) is to provide individuals, aged 16+ who work as accident repair specialists at independent garages and body repair centres, with qualifications which demonstrate their competence, skills and knowledge.

For some individuals, the Level 3 qualification could provide useful recognition of their professional competence to aid their step from one job role to another, e.g. moving into supervisory and/or management roles. For others, it could prepare them for progression to further learning and training.

About

As accident repair specialists, learners are required to be multi-disciplined. Therefore to be awarded this qualification, learners must demonstrate that they are able to perform their job competently across a set of body (panel), paint and MET (Mechanical Electrical Trim) units.

Progression

For some learners this qualification could prepare them for progression to further learning and training. For others, this qualification could also provide a useful recognition of their practical skills and knowledge, to aid their step from one job role to another.

Assessment

Learners must provide evidence of their occupational competence in the workplace, against each unit’s learning outcomes, assessment criteria and where required, evidence requirements.

In addition, learners must pass IMI set assessments for:
