Who is it suitable for?

This VRQ is designed for individuals who are 16+ and interested in working in the construction plant or machinery maintenance industry.

On completion, technicians will be able to practically demonstrate that they have the high level skills required to work in the construction plant or machinery maintenance industry and the technical knowledge required to support these skills.

About

This qualification contains a range of units which allows learners to develop their knowledge and skills across a range of different areas to cover the diverse nature of equipment within the construction plant and machinery maintenance industry.

This qualification has been developed by IMI in conjunction with the construction plant-hire association, employers, training providers and the CITB Sector Skills Council.

Due to previous qualifications from CITB being removed from the Apprenticeship Frameworks, a Cross Mapping Overview document has been created to explain the process for Centres to RPL from the old Level 2 VRQ qualification achievements. This can be found in both the 'Qualification Specification' and 'Cross Mapping' documents listed under the Documents section.

Progression

This qualification forms the knowledge component (technical certificate) of the CITB SSC Construction Plant or Machinery Maintenance Advanced Apprenticeship framework. When an apprentice has achieved a L3 Advanced Apprenticeship, they can then choose to broaden their education and training in other ways from this firm base.

Assessment

Practical Assessments, written assessment and online tests.
