WHO IS THIS QUALIFICATION SUITABLE FOR?

This Vocationally Related Qualification (VRQ) is designed for Learners typically aged 16-18 and 19+ who are interested in gaining the occupational knowledge and skills required to service and maintain vehicles found in the automotive sector. These are typically (but not limited to), light and heavy goods vehicles (HGV), public service vehicles (PSV), land-based engineering, motorcycles, and lift truck and powered access (LTPA).

The qualification is designed to be practical, engaging and motivating, to support Learners in gaining entry into employment in the automotive maintenance and repair industry.

ABOUT THIS QUALIFICATION

The IMI Level 2 Technical Occupational Entry in Automotive Care (Diploma) provides Learners with the KSBs required to maintain, diagnose and repair vehicles used in the automotive sector.

The learning programme for this qualification is based on the Knowledge (K), Skills (S) and Behaviours (B) (KSBs) for the Level 2 Autocare Technician apprenticeship standard ST0499 V1.2 developed by employers from the automotive sector.

This qualification and the accompanying assessments have been designed to reflect the Level 2 Autocare Technician apprenticeship standard ST0499 V1.2.

Learners must complete all mandatory unit requirements as detailed in the Qualification Structure. Note: There are no optional units in this qualification.

PROGRESSION

This qualification could enable an individual to progress onto an automotive apprenticeship programme or a higher level of learning and training.

ASSESSMENT

To achieve this Level 2 qualification, a Learner must:

  • Complete all practical assessment tasks whilst being observed by an assessor.
  • Pass two IMI set and marked online knowledge tests covering:
    • ACD01K: Legislation, Tools, Equipment and Business Operations
    • ACD02K: Technical Operations.
