Qualification Purpose:

The IMI Level 2 Technical Specialist Award in Electric/Hybrid Vehicle Routine Maintenance Activities offers further professional development for technicians or learners who have completed the Level 2 Autocare Technician Apprenticeship Standard (ST0499) or an equivalent Level 2 qualification in vehicle maintenance and repair.

Developed in collaboration with industry experts from the automotive sector, this qualification is subject to regular reviews to ensure it remains up to date with emerging technologies and advancements in vehicle systems.

The course content provides essential knowledge and skills for safely working on vehicles equipped with high-voltage systems. Learners will gain an understanding of the hazards and risks associated with high-voltage components and will learn how to isolate and reinstate these systems to enable routine maintenance and repairs to be carried out safely. However, this qualification does not certify a technician or learner to work directly on a vehicle’s high-voltage system.

Individuals seeking to develop the expertise to work directly on high-voltage vehicle systems should undertake the IMI Level 3 Technical Specialist in Electric/Hybrid Vehicle System Repair and Replacement (Award).

Note: Learners must have previously achieved a Level 3 qualification in vehicle maintenance and repair.

This qualification is an official entry route into our TechSafe™ recognition, which will allow you to gain your place on our Professional Register and show the automotive community and wider that you are competent in your role, and are up to date with the latest of technology and knowledge.
