The IMI Level 2 Technical Specialist Award in Hydrogen Vehicle Routine Maintenance Activities offers further professional development for technicians or learners who have completed the Level 2 Autocare Technician Apprenticeship Standard (ST0499) or an equivalent Level 2 qualification in vehicle maintenance and repair.

Developed in collaboration with industry experts from the automotive sector, this qualification undergoes regular reviews to ensure it remains up to date with new technologies and advancements in vehicle technology.

The course content provides essential knowledge and skills required to understand various types of hydrogen vehicle technology. Learners will gain an understanding of hydrogen vehicle system components, including associated hazards and safe working practices. They will also learn how to mitigate risks, safely prepare the working environment, and identify key hydrogen vehicle system components. However, this qualification does not certify a technician or learner to diagnose, rectify, or purge hydrogen system components.

Individuals wishing to develop the expertise to carry out direct repair work on a vehicle’s hydrogen system should pursue the IMI Level 3 Technical Specialist Award in Removing and Installing Hydrogen Fuel Cell Electric Vehicle System Components. Please note that candidates must have previously achieved a Level 3 qualification in vehicle maintenance and repair.
