SVQ in Vehicle Body Repair and Alignment at SCQF Level 6

 

WHO IS IT SUITABLE FOR?

This SVQ is a work-based qualification which assesses the skills and knowledge that people in your job need to perform their job role effectively.

This motor industry qualification covers activities relating to vehicle body repairers working on a wide range of vehicles in all types of garages, dealerships and specialist body repair shops.

Successful candidates will demonstrate a broad working knowledge and understanding of health and safety in the workplace and other related skills associated with working in a garage.

ABOUT

The qualification includes the following areas:

• Removing and replacing body panels
• Repairing major exterior body panels
• Identifying and rectifying vehicle body misalignment
• Vehicle welding techniques

PROGRESSION

This qualification could provide useful recognition of an individual’s professional competence, to aid their step from one job role to another, e.g. moving into supervisory roles. For others, it could prepare them for progression to further learning and training.

ASSESSMENT

You will be required to demonstrate your skills and knowledge by collecting vehicle body repair evidence from your workplace. This evidence is usually presented in a portfolio (however, your approved centre may use an alternative method). Your assessor will advise you on how to generate, collect and present your evidence. You will also be required to undertake and pass IMI-set 'online' multiple choice tests.
