Successful Learners will demonstrate a broad working knowledge and understanding of health and safety in the workplace and other skills associated with working in an automotive work environment.

ABOUT

The qualification includes work in the following areas:

  • Preparing metal and pre-painted surfaces
  • Rectifying complex defects in vehicle paintwork
  • Carrying out paintwork:
    • spot repair
    • blend/fade out repair
    • edge-to-edge repair

PROGRESSION

This qualification prepares Learners for progression to further learning and training. For others, this qualification could provide a useful recognition of their practical skills and knowledge, to aid their step from one job role to another.

ASSESSMENT

Learners will demonstrate their skills and knowledge by collecting evidence from their work activities. This evidence is usually presented in a portfolio (an approved IMI centre may use an alternative method). A Learner's assessor will advise how to generate, collect and present their portfolio of evidence. A Learner is also required to undertake and pass the IMI-set 'online' multiple-choice question tests.
