Who is the Motorcycle route for?

The IMI Accreditation Motorcycle route is intended for technicians whose job role involves the maintenance and repair of a motorcycle.

There are three levels of job role within IMI Accreditation Motorcycle:

Service Maintenance Technician

The technician should be working in the motorcycle maintenance and repair sector of the industry and ideally have at least two years' experience to ensure they are familiar with the skills, knowledge and techniques required to service, maintain and repair motorcycles.

Diagnostic Technician

The technician should be working in the motorcycle sector of the industry and ideally have at least three years' experience to ensure they are familiar with the skills, knowledge and techniques required to diagnose system faults, rectify the faults including replacing components and return the motorcycle systems to manufacturer specification.

Master Technician

The technician should be working in the motorcycle sector of the industry and ideally have at least five years' experience to ensure they are familiar with the skills, knowledge and techniques required to diagnose system faults, rectify the faults including replacing components and return the motorcycle systems to manufacturer specification.

The master technician will also require the skills and ability to effectively communicate with internal staff (at all levels), customers and industry organisations to transfer both technical and non-technical information.
