WHO IS IT SUITABLE FOR?

The typical learner for this qualification will be 19 years plus, working in industry and will hold a Level 3 automotive technical qualification. They will have experience of diagnosing and rectifying faults on a wide range of vehicle systems, including electrical system operations.

ABOUT

The purpose and aim of this new IMI Level 4 Certificate in Advanced Automotive Studies for Master Technicians is to offer individuals, who are experienced technicians in the automotive industry, with the opportunity to develop their knowledge of:

  • management principles
  • advanced vehicle technologies including alternative fuel vehicles 
  • liaising with manufacturers and suppliers on technical matters 
  • providing colleagues with technical advice and support 
  • undertaking diagnostic consultations with customers

PROGRESSION

For some learners this qualification could prepare them for progression to further learning and training. For others, this qualification could also provide a useful recognition of their practical skills and knowledge, to aid their step from one job role to another.

ASSESSMENT

Learners will demonstrate their knowledge and skills by passing IMI set assignments for all units on fundamental management principles and providing technical support to colleagues.
