WHO IS THIS QUALIFICATION FOR?

This qualification is for training providers and employers to deliver to Learners in the 16-18 and 19+ age groups. These Learners will have an interest in gaining the knowledge to work safely within the automotive retail industry as it continues to see an increase in vehicles with Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) entering the workplace.

It is therefore designed to provide Learners with an introduction to the knowledge of safe working practices, the dangers surrounding it and the precautions required to avoid potential injuries/accidents.

This Award-sized qualification offers an introduction to this specialised industry sector, which in addition to complementing their current industry qualifications and experience, will enable Learners to continue to work safely within their role. These roles can include, but are not exclusive to, non-technical people, such as:

  • Managers
  • Valeters
  • Parts personnel
  • Sales and aftersales personnel
  • Event staff
  • Fleet managers and personnel
  • Vehicle recovery personnel
  • Vehicle dismantlers
  • Vehicle damage assessors
  • Insurance companies
  • Vehicle hire companies
  • Smart repair companies

WHO MIGHT BE INTERESTED IN TAKING THIS COURSE?

There are no formal entry requirements for this qualification and Learners are not expected to have any prior knowledge or experience, however, an interest in the subject area is advisable.

WHAT WILL THE LEARNER STUDY AS PART OF THIS QUALIFICATION?

The content of this qualification has been designed to give the Learners the knowledge required to work safely around vehicles containing ADAS technology. It contains one mandatory unit covering:

  • The types of ADAS systems and sensors available and health, safety and legal requirements
  • The basic interaction between ADAS systems associated with vehicle powertrain, steering and braking systems
  • The potential impact on the correct operation of vehicles fitted with ADAS systems by inappropriate actions of individuals
  • The appropriate action to take should damage be caused to an ADAS system or components

This qualification will help support progression on to qualifications that further develop their knowledge and skills in calibrating ADAS sensors and systems:
