WHO IS IT SUITABLE FOR?

This qualification is for:

  • School and college leavers who wish to join the vehicle maintenance and repair industry.
  • individuals (who are not currently employed in the automotive industry) who want the opportunity to develop the occupational knowledge and skills to carry out the practical tasks associated with maintenance and repair.
  • and employees working in the vehicle fitting industry who are looking for recognition of the knowledge and skills relating to their job role.

 

ABOUT

This qualification is normally delivered in a college or training provider environment on a full/part time basis. Learners will gain the knowledge, understanding and develop the hands on practical skills associated with a maintenance and repair technician working in a typical vehicle ‘fast-fit’ setting.

This learning programme and qualification is based upon the IMI Sector Skills Organisation National Occupational Standards agreed with employers and training providers within the vehicle fitting industry.

 

PROGRESSION

Once a Learner has achieved this qualification, they may choose to broaden their education and training. For example, progressing onto a L7 SCQF in, Light Vehicle or Heavy Goods and Public Service Vehicle maintenance and repair. Some individuals may prefer to step from one job role to another, e.g. moving into a supervisory role. Others may choose to progress onto alternative automotive learning and training sectors.

 

ASSESSMENT

The assessment of this VRQ is made up of 2 components:

a. IMI practical support material

b. IMI set Online Testing

c. IMI written support material - Optional
