Review of Welsh Automotive Apprenticeships – Your Chance to Have Your Say!

On behalf of the Welsh Government, The IMI are carrying out a review on several Welsh Apprenticeships. We are looking for apprentices, employers, training providers, awarding bodies, assessors, trade organisations and other stakeholders in Wales to feed into the review.

Following several Expert Working Group meetings, we have put together new draft Apprenticeships, incorporating the feedback we have received so far. We are now inviting feedback on the draft Apprenticeships. We would like to hear from apprentices, employers, training providers, awarding bodies, assessors, trade organisations and other stakeholders in Wales to ensure that the revised draft Apprenticeship Frameworks are fit for purpose. Therefore, we would be grateful if you could complete our short questionnaire by clicking on the link to the relevant Apprenticeship(s) below:

All information relating to the draft Apprenticeships and the questions being asked is detailed within the questionnaires. However, if anyone wishes to view the new draft Apprenticeship documents you can do so by clicking on the links below:

The IMI were also asked by Welsh Government to review the Apprenticeships for:

  • Heavy Vehicle Trailer Maintenance & Repair – Level 2
  • Lift Truck Maintenance & Repair – Level 2 & 3
  • Auto Electrical and Mobile Electrical Installation Maintenance & Repair – Level 2 & 3
  • Caravan and Motorhome Maintenance & Repair – Level 2 & 3
  • Bus & Coach Body Maintenance & Repair – Level 2 & 3
  • Advanced Diagnostics and Management Principles – Level 4

However, after analysing the take up and undertaking further research there has been little to no demand for these Apprenticeships. Therefore, it is planned to disband these routes.

If anyone has any questions relating to the Apprenticeships being reviewed and/or the Apprenticeships being disbanded, please contact laurah@theimi.org.uk.
