Electrical: Electrical components and materials

Course overview

The aim of this exciting module is to enable you to familiarise yourself with a range of electrical components and the materials that are employed within them. The module will identify a variety of relevant electrical terms associated with automotive maintenance and repair industry and identify measurements that are employed by technicians during repair procedures. You will be able to identify different electrical circuits and how they are employed within a vehicle. A key feature of the module is vehicle lighting and how they operate; study how car batteries function to power a variety of vehicle components. The module will also describe the role and function of a vehicle starter motor and an alternator and the associated alternating current will also be covered. You will have the opportunity to identify and analyse vehicle motors and digital technologies that are relevant to the automotive industry.
