Can you tell us about your professional background?

My name is Emmanuel Dodzi Kwashie Yevugah, an automotive engineering professional based in Ghana with extensive experience in vehicle maintenance, diagnostics, workshop safety management, technical training, and automotive service operations. 

I play a key leadership role in the management and operations of Diamond Star Automobile Company Limited, where we promote professional vehicle servicing standards, safety culture, and engineering best practices. 

I am also the Founder and Director of Programs/Consulting at the Institute of Automotive Engineering, where I provide leadership in professional training, technical capacity development, and consultancy services aimed at improving skills development and professionalism within the automotive industry. 

Through this role, I contribute to developing the next generation of automotive professionals and promoting structured technical competence within the sector. 

What was the biggest challenge for you?

Despite my practical experience and leadership involvement, one of my key professional challenges was obtaining internationally recognized certification to formally validate my competencies and align my expertise with global automotive professional standards. 

As someone involved in both industry practice and professional development, it became important for me to strengthen my international professional recognition, enhance my credibility, and demonstrate commitment to continuous professional development. Additionally, there was a need to connect with a globally recognized professional body that would support my growth, expand my professional network, and reinforce my ability to contribute meaningfully to automotive skills development, workshop management, and engineering professionalism both locally and internationally.

Why did you choose the IMI?

My decision to work with the Institute of the Motor Industry (IMI) was driven by my desire to align my professional experience with internationally recognized automotive standards and to formally benchmark my competencies against global best practices.
